KEH-TECH is a knowledge base, a news feed and a forum for people who keep computers running. It is built and run by me, Karl E. Henry, a Windows systems administrator. This is the short version of how I got here and why the site exists.
A black screen and DOOM II
I think I was thirteen. I was hanging out with my best friend, Dean, when his stepfather called us over to show us a game on his Packard Bell computer. I watched a black screen fill with text. He typed a few commands, and DOOM II loaded, and there he was, playing.
Ever since that day, my goals in life changed. I went from wanting to be a cop to “I want to fix computers.”
The path since
My first IT job was a summer consulting gig for a public school, working on a computer refresh. From there I became the administrator for a law firm, where I handled system imaging, centralized McAfee antivirus, and every support request, all of which arrived by email. Yuck.
Next came the help desk at Dressbarn as a support specialist. When that position was eliminated, I found my way to a contract role at the university where I still work today. I have been there ever since, moving from PC Support Specialist to Technical Manager, then Senior Desktop Engineer, and now Windows Systems Administrator.
Why I built this site
With the use of AI, I have been able to dabble in areas I never thought possible. I wanted to share my knowledge, and to bring together a community of tech pros who keep helping each other.
I often find that when you have a good team, the best work comes out of it. I believe this site can build a community that helps others in need, without breaking the bank.
